Sembang-Sembang@Utara is a collaboration between Dewanita Pulau Pinang (DPMMPP), Koperasi Usahawan Muda Pulau Pinang Berhad (KUMUDA) and The RIGHTS (Kedah) and will be held at Anjung Budi, Universiti Sains Malaysia, on May 4, 2011, at 3.30 pm, with the topic “The Creative Enterprise: Innovate Your Business”.
Sembang-Sembang, a monthly networking session for women entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs-to-be, which bring together a group of Malaysian women entrepreneurs to share together their inspiration, aspirations and challenges as entrepreneurs in a casual and informal setting, will be held for the first time in Penang.
Sembang-Sembang is initiated by the US Embassy in Malaysia and Warisan Global Sdn Bhd, as a Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) activity since March 2010 and has been a huge success. Recently, the program has reached Kelantan and Johor as well as Sabah.
Sembang-Sembang is for women who want to learn about entrepreneurship, who are eager to share their knowledge and experience to encourage other women to become entrepreneurs and who want to have networking with successful and women entrepreneurs.
Sembang-Sembang intends to provide women a unique networking opportunity that offers:
Five panelists will take part in this program -- Administrator for Technopreneur UUM CAS, Dr Sahadah Abdullah; Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce Vice President, Miss Yuslinov Ahmad; Rumah NUR President, Puan Hajah Siti Faridah Hj Arshad; Entrepreneur, Puan Shahema Baiza Yip; and Miss Krista Goon from Red Box Studio. Puan Fazlina Dato’ Ahmad Daud, an actress and a daughter of late Dato’ Ahmad Daud will be in charged as the moderator of this program.
This program will be officiated by YB Muhamad Farid Saad, Penang State Assemblyman, who is also Political Secretary to Minister in the Prime Minister Department.
The program will be attended by key people in entrepreneur-linked government agencies NGOs, representatives from the US Embassy as well as women entrepreneurs from different business backgrounds.
Sponsors for this program, Noor Arfa Batik and Azwadee Design will perform a fashion show with the theme 1Malaysia at the end of the dialogue.
